About Daughters of the Holy Cross - Sally Dixon
With the Lord’s encouragement and after much prayer and consideration, St. Timothy’s Church will begin a chapter in The Order of the Daughters of the Holy Cross (DHC). The order exists to gather Anglican women into a nurturing and empowering community called to be servants of Jesus as He unites and builds up His body, the Church. We function as individuals and as chapters with Provincial Council that provides organization and leadership for the Order. Although we do not live in a geographic community, we are united by our common vow. Only a member may wear the Cross of the Order, which reminds her of Jesus’ sacrifice and her desire to grow closer to Him. Daughters of the Holy Cross live by a four-fold Rule of Life that encompasses prayer, service, study and evangelism. Daughters seek daily to do the will of God and to serve their clergy, their church and others as the Lord directs.
In order to prepare for vows, each candidate will attend trainings during their three-month discernment period. Applicants will receive complimentary copies of the “The DHC Handbook and a “Candidate Study Manual.
All women of St. Timothy’s are asked to pray and seek God’s discernment about joining this Order. Women from all walks of life and all ages are welcome. Once we have satisfied the discernment period we will meet once a month throughout the year, participating in fun and fulfilling service activities as well as sharing devotionals and honoring prayer requests. Rev. Gary Beson is our Chapter’s Chaplin, and Bishop Mark Lawrence is our National Chaplain.
In order to share more information to all interested, we will be meeting at Wynne Boone’s house on August 20th @ 6:30pm. Sally Dixon, President of the St. Johns Chapter has agreed to meet with us to answer any and all questions. If you are unable to attend you may also email Kay Travinski (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Sally Dixon (email@example.com). please let us know if you would like to participate in the training so that we can prepare notebooks.
